The National Science Olympiad is an Academic & Scholastic Aptitute
competition, encouraging learning in Science, Environment &
Mathematics.
Eligibility :
Students studying in CBSE/ICSE and other state board schools in
classes 3 to 12 are eligible to appear in the examination. There is
no eligibility criteria like minimum marks
Medium :The
medium of the test is English.
Syllabus :
CBSE, ICSE/ISC and State Board syllabus is followed for setting the
test papers. Sample papers are available on website :

Structure of the Competition :
The National Science Olympiad is an academic and scholastic aptitude
competition encouraging learning in Science and Mathematics. The
competition has been divided into two levels:
Level -1 :
The question paper consists of Science, Mental Ability and General
Intelligence section. There are separate question papers for each
class. The exam is conducted during school hours.
Pattern of the examination :
The level-1 competition is a written objective-type test of 60
minutes duration comprising 50 objective-type (Multiple Choice)
questions for class 3 to class12. Each correct answer carries one
mark. Students of 11th and 12th answer any three parts of the
Question paper: (1) Physics, (ii) Chemistry, (iii) Mathematics or
Biology.
Level -2:
Top 500 students along with all school-topper award winner of level
1 qualifies for the Level 2 from each class. For the level 2, admit
card containing all information regarding exam centre, date, timing,
etc. is issued to the qualified students through their respective
schools. It will be offline or online test.
Registration of Students :
The events are open to the students of classes 3 to 12 and
registration will have to be sent through the respective schools in
the prescribed performa. Registration sheets for the school and the
students are enclosed with the information booklets which are posted
to the schools all over India. Registration is open from July
onwards.
Date & Venue :
The Level 1 of the Olympiad is conducted at the respective school
premises of the participants during the working hours. Whereas the
Level 2 test is conducted at more than 50 centres across India and
aboard.
Fees :
A
nominal participation fee is charged from each student. Details
about the fee/mode of payment etc. are given by the institute only
at the time of notification of registeration.
Declaration of result :
Result of both the levels of NSO is declared within 7-8 weeks of the
examination. The results are sent to the schools concerned. The
result is also made available on our website.
